    Easy E-commerce websites like Shopify

    Hi,

In the coming weeks I will be making a site to sell art on, Im looking for a site where everything is easy to set up and use but still looks slick and professional.

As Im a student Im also looking to keep the cost down where possible.

So far I have found Shopify which looks very promising but does anyone have any other suggestions before I go ahead and sign up to shopify?

    Thanks!
    Jamie

Try Create a Free Website , Free Flash Website Builder at Wix.com I use it, and I am sure you will like how it looks and feel like, plus they have added new features. And if you lack ideas you may pic from one of their many galleries and edit to your taste .
    Hope I helped

Thanks Alex but that doesn't really suit my needs. It needs to be an e-commerce site not an image gallery.

You know, there are many ecommerce shopping carts like magento, Miva order, Zen cart, Cube cart, Os Commerce, etc.
I can recommend you to check webintellects.com - they offer nice ecommerce hosting solutions including Miva order shopping cart software.

    Hope it will help you.

    Here is very easy setup:

Joomla, is a CMS, very easy to use and has a large community of supporters to help you go - joomla.org/download.html
Virtuemart, simple, yet robust ecommerce solution. It is a good free ecommerce solution and integrates easily into Joomla - virtuemart.net

First develop a database on your hosting provider. Upload the Joomla file. Go to mydomain.com/installation . Follow the instruction to install Joomla. It will take less than 5 minutes to installs. Delete the "Installation" folder. Login to the backend at mydomain.com/administrator . Go to Extension -> Install. Click Browse and select the viruemart folder (you may need to unzip). Let it install and that is it. Go to Components -> Viruemart and get to work. If you need a theme for your website you can go to Rockettheme. They offer free and premium templates or there are many Joomla designer on here.

Shopify is easy and looks good, but it can be frustrating and limiting at times.

Jamie, to keep your price low I would suggest to go with any one of these Oscommerce / Joomla / Wordpress. Get a professional design for website and allow a web development company / programmer to integrate design into your website.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
