Best web hosting for an E-commerce website?

    Hi,

I am working on a business plan for a new e-commerce site that will be a marketplace for buyers and sellers of a certain type of product. I am clueless when it comes to web hosting. So, which web hosting company do you recommend? I need service that is reliable and can handle lots of traffic eventually. Kenny

Does hostgator.com truly offer unlimited features. I've read on this forum that many web hosting companies say they do but actually do not. Also I was reading the fine print of host gator's terms and conditions and it states "You are allocated a monthly bandwidth allowance" even though they state the opposite on there web hosting features page.

No such thing as 'unlimited' when related to hosting, you will always find something in the small print that over rides the 'unlimited' part of the sales pitch.

Thanks Mega B. Are there any others besides Hostgator.com that you would recommend for an ecommerce website?

i know its dated and has its citics but EKM powershop is a simple effective out of the box solution and from my own experience good for beginners, cheap and cheerful it may be but with no contract as such its a good starting off point for a newbie.
Change over to a more specialized provider when you are established.

I think that the best solution for eCommerce is VPS
The best solution for VPS is redswitches.com at the moment.
Of course there are some other companies exist, but this one is leading.
