Best way to buy a premium domain name?

Is there any advantage of using godaddy.com over buydomains.com or vice versa when it comes to buying a premium domain name?

i personally use go daddy its good....you can edit your website and do all that good stuff

Yes, buydomains mark up prices about 1000%. That's not an exaggeration either.

Sedo is probably the best option if you are searching for a premium domain. If you have a certain domain singled out, contact the owner directly via their whois information to negotiate a price.

sedo, buydomains, and godaddy all list the price at the same price and whois does not have any contact info. I guess I will just pick it up from godaddy.

Is the whois info private? or is it an extension that doesn't provide contact details?

If it's the primary, and depending on which privacy protection services, you can probably still contact the owner through the given email.

The good advantage is that Go-Daddy accounts are widely use so it makes it very easy to transfer domains between the company itself.

Godaddy list names from several sources including BuyDomains.com, which is owned by SEDO.com. BuyDomains will negotiate on price though it can take weeks to make them see reason.

if you need $ for a premium domain...either look for investors or check out Domain Capital

I think the issue here is premium domains that someone else is already squatting on.

What is a reasonable price for a premium domain. I am sure it varies widely, but it would be nice if there was some type of blue book.

I've made a few inquiries regarding premium domain names (or registered/parked domain names) over the last few years and it's always been a frustrating task. The domains that I've asked for have always been something specific to my business name and not really your classic 'premium' names .... Still, simply due to the fact that I inquired about it means that the owner is wanting anywhere from $2,000 - $5,000 when to me it is probably worth more like $500.

In every case, I've just ended up searching for a similar term and found a name that is nearly as good.
