Select the keywords people use to access your business and use them on your site using goodkeywords, the google keyword tool, and many others. Get links from other sites with the text of your link being the keywords you are targeting (it helps to have keywords in your domain name). Get into the social networks (MySpace, Facebook, etc) and post videos on youtube. Done. In a few weeks traffic will start pouring in, then you can track and refine.

I just started a small site to sell replacement trackballs for Blackberry's and so far I've really only used Google Adwords and it's worked great. I have received nearly 200 clicks and it's run me only about $30(which was free because got a $30 credit with my web hosting). I'm also working on getting the Yahoo one going as well. There's not that many other options for getting traffic to your site if you're just looking at reaching the typical customer. I would also try forums that relate to your site though, It's a pretty good specific targeting way of getting your name out.
Just tryin' to make it. Working hard so I can live it up! Aren't we all?
