    WiFi Wimax

Does anyone know about wifi or wimax and how it works? Some cities are implementing wimax and wifi citywide so that people can connect to the internet anywhere?

Does anyone know how much it costs to do this?
Where can I get information about how this process works and who the providers are?

    THank you,

    Tyler

I have looked into using something like WiMax to set up a rural-area ISP. There is alot of money involved, both in the investment and on the final return. Let me know if you are interested in going through with this- I can help out with some of the startup process..

    Hi,

i've recently worked on a WiFi link in Robin Hood's Bay, Yorkshire, UK, and am about to move out and set up another on my own. What we basically did was bought Meshboxes from www.locustworld.com (which you can make by installing the software on old PCs if neccesary) and connected one of these to an internet "backhaul" for which we just used a business line and it worked fine. If you have the money for it feeed.net's CMUPS helps automate the system very well.

I'm happy to help with any other questions you might have.

i am currently looking to implement a wireless network fully over the UK just like a mobile phone network if anyone is interested in joining as a business partnership please contact me.

Best thing to do is buy equipment from the USA as it is a lot cheaper to an UK customer.
