What Is Needed to Start a One Man Business

Hey guys, I am starting a guitar repair business, no employees but myself.

I mostly do small jobs in the neighborhood and at school. The reason I'm looking to get licensed as an actual business is to apply for dealer discounts on part websites in order to increase the profit margin.

Now the main website that I order parts from states that "You must have a current copy of your Business License, Sales and Use Tax Permit, or equivalent state-issued document available to fax to us."

What do I need to do in order to qualify for all this. I did a little bit of searching and seemed to get caught in a circle of misinformation. I am completely new to business and just need a bit of help to start off.

are you located in Canada or the US. You basically need to go to a registrty office and register for a personal proprietorship then apply for your business license from their.

Not 100% on the details for the US.

I've looked into it lately as well. You just need to go to the registry office and file for sole proprietorship. I'd assume this would come with all the needed licenses ect. It's the place to start, the people at the office would be able to tell you what you need to do to get the other stuff if it's anything extra you need to do.
