I'm a young aspiring fashion designer and though without industry experience. For years I've been using the internet to scout out grassroots fashion interests in the US and sketching hundreds of designs compromising their interests with more mainstream ideas. From the attitudes shared by udoli whom are predominantly African American to the growing interests of gyaru and gothic lolita fashion interests from Japan, my interests in fashion are incredibly diverse and can accommodate a variety of audiences with fresh new ideas from around the globe in a world that's becoming more and more globalized. Unlike many others who love fashion I also do not keep my thoughts limited to the artistic aspect of fashion and understand the importance of establishing niche demographic for a line of clothes and it's affordability. Currently, I've been preparing to exchange designs with teen to young adult African American women who want designs that are not urban, utilize traditional African outfits, but in a way fits mainstream eastern aesthetics for cuteness or western standards for elegance. That, or a nod to eastern and western counterculture. So far my suggestions have been met with praise and I think likewise I'd have a lot to offer to the industry. The ideas, hairstyles and makeup for the aforementioned demographic are being designed, but the problem still remains of getting them the clothing from other locations and at a reasonable price. However this situation, shared by many others online opens the doors for fresh ideas. All I ask is for someone to look over my sketches or provide advice, a chance, anything that can be provided to take what I have to the next level.
