Hello Young Entrepreneurs

I need to apply for a trademark for my logo for my site that is going to launch in January/Febuary of 2010 and I had some questions. I only need a 1 class trademark.

1. Has anyone ever done it themselfs? (without a lawyer)
2. How difficult would it be if I were to do it by my self?
3. If I choose to do it with a lawyer, whats the average cost a lawyer would charge? (just a ballpark is ok)
4. How much should i expect to pay if i do it myself?

Our office charges $1500 flat. The fee includes the search, large report on all existing trademarks that are similar to yours and a formal opinion letter stating whether or not you should apply for the trademark.

Do you have a compelling reason to register your trademark rather than to simply attach the "TM" symbol and enjoy the benefits of a common-law trademark?

The trademark process is a bitch. It's outdated and needs to be reformed badly.

Just be aware that if you add "TM" to your name instead of doing the trademark search you may still be infringing on someone elses' rights.
