    The offer

    Greetings,

Here is the deal I have been offered some form of a role in a company that is being bought out. I bring to the table cutting edge design work. Although I have not been at it very long I have won several awards in my field and have shown potential to keep our product strong.

My question is what sort of things should I be asking to make sure that my interests are secured. Royalties, Percentages, Salary,...etc? Should I be pushing for a partnership?

Everyone I have talked so far has said what is the catch.. So far I have not been asked to put up any funding. Which leads to believe that I may be offered just a position and not a partnership?

    THx

Have you asked the owner(s) of the business what the offer is for your work? That might be a good starting point.

Yes, I agree. If they approached you, ask for the offer. In writing is preferable. Then you can negotiate. They may ask you to start the bargaining, but they should go first, since they approached you. They must have some sort of offer on their minds, and best to get it on the table, as a starting point. Hold firm on getting an offer from them. Then you know it is serious.

Yep agree with both jmeng and richrf

Get them to make the first move, then review and move from there.

The things you will want to look for are do you get to keep copyright of any Intellectual property, or are they purchasing the IP.

But once you know more about the offer post back here and i'll be happy to help you review and negotiate.
