not a bad idea...i truly wish to create from scratch and grow it....it might not be smart....but i like the idea that i founded it, i created it, i grew it....selfish but true....i would get more joy out of it....

but most of the magazines such as playboy, penthouse etc...they all pretty much do the same thing...i am trying to find a way to make it different, yet the same..i want the girls, i want the content....but i want it different...not sure how

What's that Maxxim magazine? Aren't they like riskee but it also sells to men and women. I personally don't read the magazines.

Just a thought on Porn. Every serial killer is a porn adict, maybe you can market to them.

In a sense you have to copy whats aready there. Just need to add a little something that give it your personality. There are plenty of trade magazines too that we consumers never see. My wife worked for one and helped with trade shows.
You may want to consider getting a job with a magazine or go to one and ask for advice and go to some conventions in those areas of interest.
politics, products, specialty industry, gossip or find an industry that there is no news.
Find consultants to write opinions for you.
You may have to start it as a news letter.
Maybe you could to it on import export and tariff. Business might buy it to find referals and education on sourcing. You can interview exporters, factories, Product pricing for dummies, bonding and brokers etc.

dos, thanks for the message...i want to wait to put this out for a year or 2...i want to see how many more people get involved with the net, and see if a digital magazine would be the way to go...if i do this, i would offer a mini magazine just with the content and no ads, or with ads, if the market is right... i think if i make the digital magazine, it has more of a chance to reach markets than a print magazine....yes i would have to make it the same as well as unique...one thing is for sure though, sex sells no matter what...

so like i said, i would advertise on my site as well as in the digital magazine...and then offer a mini magazine just full of content (pictures and articles, no ads)...this way business men like us can scan through some hotties before, during, and after work

but let me know what you think

It totally depends on you market. Professional business men probably don't want a nudy mag floating around. Think of Donald Trump. He goes with the Miss America or beatiful woman, the most you see is a bikini. The same with the Sport Car mags. I guess I'm implying to keep it as tastefull as possible.
I'm more on the conservative side so my opinion is biased.
What's is the difference between a website and a digital mag? I think you could go digital soon and keep it simple and see what the response is. As it grows you can buy and add more stuff. Some investors like to see time and experience in business. You could have 2 years. Even if you do nothing with it, you can preach that you've been in business for X amount of time.
There are plenty of techies here that can help you out.

thanks dos, one thing...there will be little or no nudity...i would make it like maxim...it would be tasteful...there would be no showing of private parts or anything like that...the thing with print is, not sure if i wanna spend that sort of money in the begining, i mean i might have to...but if i did the digital i can reach any person in the world....most magazines offer digital now as well..and with the net expanding everyday, not sure how much longer print will be like it was...that is why i might give out small magazines with just pictures and stuff, like a biography for a sports team you know..have all the girls in it, location and stuff...then have the actuall articles on the digital magazine with the ads...i need to keep it tastefull, because i want ads...no companies will really advertise the way i want in a magazine like hustler or penthouse or playboy...i just really want bikini, niche articles and ads

im just stuck what a guy wants from a magazine...besides, sex, sports, stocks, music, movies...that has all been done, im looking to hit another area or 2
    thanks

also....coming up with names is hard ...i want a brand name that is universal IE..CAFE...anywhere in the world cafe means pretty much the same...if i cant get that, i need a name that means what my magazine is...everything about mem, what men want and need....playboy is great because it is a pleasure seeking inidividual

Looks like most of those mag names are subject oriented or spin names for the subject. Which might be wise if google a subject and you mag pops up.
Names like Deal, For Sale, Wisdom, Wise, Alpha, Everest, Echo, Pound, Romeo, The Stand, Trader, Xtreme, Encore, Quest. Out Side The Box, etc.
Men's Garage, Man's Pocket, Men's Sourse, Man's World. Guy's night. What do you call it when you hang out with the bros?

Good luck with the name only you can decide.

    yeah thanks again dos,

like the names...i wanna keep it one word that i can brand and people can remember...ie maxim and playboy...the feel of the mag will be for aspiring people who work alot, and just want to kick back, look at some girls, look at sports and stocks...

so yeah ..i got plenty of time now, but if i dont keep on the plan and etc...when its near time to try to get investors i will be stuck

not sure i want to have MEN (s) in the name...since the brand itself will say MEN..like people know playboy and maxim as guys magazines...catch the drift

I think I'm grasping a bit of your vision, just bouncing ideas since I have the time today. You need to find someone with experience in this Mag industy. I have no concept for the energy involved in writers or jounalists and resources and the stress of publishing. keeping on top of the markets and trends and gossip etc. a magazine you write and fill it ounce a month but the internet could be highlighting stories fairly often to keep exitment and change on the web site. Like the news highlights I look at everyday. Websites that change slowly do not take priority and are forgotten or looked at during times of boredom or necesity.
    Good luck Philv.

Not sure, I'd probably need to look at those mags. I'm kind of a media retard. I don't really care about that most of that stuff. So my opinion may be warped. Maybe for the internet you can hire some of the popular You Tube people to do professional but odd videos on certain subjects and they can bring their followers with them. The aspiring writers might work too. basically you might have more of a night show attitude. Humor on the news.
Contravercy works too. They read it because they love you or they hate you.

I Was a DJ in college and I always wanted to do a talk show with my black room mate from New York. I'd be the white conservative and he would be the black liberal.
