Please specify needs and more directed questions. No one likes to hold someone else's hand through this stuff. You'll just get a lot of spam that way.

Please provide a bit more info about what type of business you are looking to start, or your interests and some people could be a bit more willing to help you out.

    Cheers, Fiona

Take a look at Drupal, its super adaptable to most needs (e-commerce, blogging, news, media, corporate, community are all examples of Drupal).

Hi am also a newbie trying to make my ways in the online business. No doubt its a wide sphere and there are ample opportunities to venture into. Amongst all I have decided to start a website which would help people acquire all their stationary needs with a few mouse clicks. Well my targeted customers are the local ones as who would like to shop for these from places far away! But I want to start small and then move into other things. Do let me know if this idea is acceptable and if so what can be the expenses for which I should be prepared for? Also can there be any financial aids like grants etc. for me if I want for my venture!

Come now guys... I think he gets the point that he needs to be specific... this thread is becoming really redundant..

Give info.. then we give advice. Ok?
