    Cool Start up recruitment company

So here's the situation; should I start a recruitment firm.

I'm about to graduate from a university. However, I studied abroad, and when I came back to motherland faced difficulty finding a job. Reasons?

The country's economy is booming. There are hundreds of foreign companies, hundreds of local firms, hundreds of vacancies. Construction, oil and gas, telecommunications, textile...

I have higher education, lots of qualifications, experience, I speak four languages, have a driving licence, energy and ambition.

But the only job advertisement is - one page a week (for capital city!). And all other positions are filled through relatives, friends, word of mouth etc.

There is no recruitment firm whatsoever, no job ad paper, no website, no CV database. One has to visit every company (hundreds of them), and drop resumes. In fact no one will read those CVs, since staff working there will bring their relatives and friends for new positions.

Ok experts, is it worth trying a recruitment firm here?

P.S. sure, i did find a job eventually, but that was really difficult

    do a competitor to jobster.com

it's the next thing in recruitment

it helps companies hire smarter by enabling employees to reach out to their friends in the hidden job market and find trustworthy people who are the best fit for the employer.

    jobs.com.au is also interesting

it helps jobseekers by letting anyone enjoy the benefits of a full service recruitment firm

    Wahahaha
Actually I was talking about a country in Central Asia - Turkmenistan, where only about 1% of population has access to Internet. It's not going to be a "clicks only". It will be "bricks and clicks"

Also try searching the Web for "jobs Turkmenistan". Dem u r really funny!

That's what I am talking about. It's Turkmenistan, only companies have access to Internet, and several thousand individuals. Population is about 6 millions. Oil and gas is booming (partly because of Iraq, companies are coming here now). Everywhere is construction, people are building a second Dubai here. There are hundreds of positions, but no recruitment companies, no job ads newspaper, nothing. (as explained in previous posts)

Renting a place will cost me about 100$/month.
I already have a PC, just need to buy a printer, 50$.
Some A4 paper and office things, 50$.
    Adverise myself in newspapers, 50$
Send emails to companies inviting to website, free
    Access to Internet, 100$/year
    Hosting PHP/MySQL website 30$/year
Data entry (CV's) into database, myself

I will have to invest about 700$ in startup, which I will borrow from my parents.
The opportunity is evident, but it seems just too good to be true. Should I do it?

ok. to make a call on whether to start or not start any particular venture, you need to do a good job as a founder. this involves a number of things, and once you've done these things, you'll have a definitive answer.

    1) Problem formulation: You've talked about a number of macro and microeconomic reasons for why you think this recruitment company might be a goer. That's all very nice, but you need to carry out primary market research which compliments your existing secondary market research.

In other words, is it worth trying a recruitment firm? I dunno, what do your customers say? If enough customers have personally told you that they'll buy your thing at sufficiently high prices for your financial statements to work - then, that's a good indication.

    2) Elegant solutions: What's important here is that even if a) works out - unless you're a good founder, there is no reason to do this startup because you don't have the skills or resources to commercialise your ideas.

What you need to do is take the results from a) and shop them around town. If you are brilliant enough to convince people to join you - then, that's a good indication that you should do your startup.

These are the basic elements of being a founder, which is a process people must go through to figure out if they should start recruitment shops.

There are also other entrepreneurial roles that are critical for you to not only start a recruitment firm, but being able to start a good recruitment firm which you can grow into an outstanding recruitment firm.
