If I'm only going to accept payment through paypal, do I really need to buy an SSL certificate? Especially with the e-commerce website I'm starting, we only have to establish what they want and how over e-mail, I don't believe we even exchange personal information at all if the client doesn't find the need to(which they shouldn't)
I also assume you don't absolutely need one if you also accept checks/money orders?

No, you do not need one as paypal be the one responsible for the payment options.
