I have this idea of a business that I think would generate millions and change an entire industry. This business would involve the internet and so much more. I am a programmer and know how to technically \"do it\", but it would involve a heavily regulated industry that I would not know where to begin or to even know if it would be legal. I\'ve done some research and it seems that it might be about 100K in lawyers fees and licensing alone. How can I talk to the right people about this idea without having them take it them selves?

Have you created a business plan first? Getting your thoughts on paper in the form of a plan is always a good first step. I would then talk to a lawyer about protecting your plan but there isnt a whole lot you can do to protect it. Even patents and copyrights of your idea/product would be ineffective because a 15% variation (I think) is considered legal.
