Sig Avertising

I've talked to a few people and signature advertising seems like an effective strategy to meet a company's target audience. Would you be interested in paying for an ad in someone's signature? If you wouldn't, why not?

I wouldn't pay for one, but I would certainly let someone pay me to put a company in my sig.

It is an interesting concept with two possible benefits.

You would need assurances of the "quality" of the posts that your site is going to be associated with for one. You may also want to bar posts on your chosen topics as they may create inconsistancies - eg we develop in .Net so wouldnt want someone singing the praises of PHP with out website advertised underneath it.

I've had clients that have done this and have experienced both positive and negative effects. For the positive -- the links contributed to a pretty significant increase to their's site's traffic. But on the negative side -- one client's reputation was in jeopardy of being tarnished by being associated with that paticular person and their very "bad" posting.
