    Selling a Business

    Hey All -

    I'm selling an online business to someone and he wants to sign paperwork that basically says I am not going to be going out and making another website exactly like the one I'm making and direct all the traffic to the new website. Would a Non-Compete agreement work for this? What would be the best way to make it to where he feels comfortable that I'm not going to go out there and re-produce his site and divert the traffic?

    I would put the burden of drafting that document on the buyer. Then you can review it and determine if the terms are acceptable.

    Obviously, simply posting a random "for sale" sign on your website is unlikely to attract the interest you are looking for. Nevertheless, such a listing can be extremely effective if it is located in a place where a large number of potential buyers make regular visits. Fortunately, such a place exists:
