    Retail Shoe Store Heeeelp!

    Hey ya'll

I'am still a student and am currently entering my second semester of university. I am in a business program in University of Ryerson in Toronto so i thought since i am in business why not start a business right. So, i thought of a business and came up with the idea of a opening an all shoe store, where i would sell both male and female shoes at lower prices and have a bigger variety, because a lot of the time people either go out of town to buy the shoes or buy of the internet the idea of bringing it to town sounds good. What do you think?

The thing is i'm trying to raise money without taking a loan i have already saved some up and have family support, and going to host a big event fundraiser but does anybody have any ideas on how to raise money?

Also, since i am just starting out i was planning on going into business with 2 friends but after talking to many people i was told that it might not be such a good idea because of legal issues, loyalty, smaller peice of the pie, and just confrontations in general about leadership. But also because the frist year i don't expect oto use a lot of the profit but rather reinvest it. Should i just be a sole proprietor, what should I do?

Lastly, I was wondering on how to find suppliers for my products, does anybody have any ideas on how i should go about. Do i deal with the company direct or is there suppliers for the company for example Nike?

The first thing I'd be looking at is will a shoe shop actually be in demand and profitable? ... especially in the area you are planning to setup in. Is there demand for a shoe shop, are there any competitors?

    Thanks Nado,

Yes i believe there is a demand, because for the market i'm targeting, highschool to university students like myself, a lot of the time they want something rare nobody has, lower prices, better variety, and even customization, and that is what i plan to offer. So, when you look at those factors, yes, it will be profitable hopefully, because there are not a lot of shoe stores that only sell shoes, and the ones that already exist are pricey and don't carry a wide variety.
