Hi,
I am looking to make the next jump.
I have started up a website almost a year ago, and it has taken off better than I have imagined. I am still only at the beginning of what can be a huge financial success for myself and my partner.
There are just a few issues that I have been researching but still have not found a concrete answer.
The website is run by two people, myself and my partner. I reside in the USA while my partner resides in New Zealand.
1. How would I go about registering as a business, I believe I want a LLC or LLP. I would think a LLP would be the best way to go.
2. When it comes to registering we do not have an actual building we work in, we both (my partner and I) work from our homes or school. Do we have to register in the same state we reside in? I have read that certain states have lower taxes than others.
3. What legal issues will I be bound to by registering as a business? The main focus of registering as a business is to become official. We do not want to be a website anymore, we want to take it to the next step.
Those are just some questions and if you can point me towards places to read I would appreciate it or if you can give me a direct answer I would also greatly appreciate that.
Just some information about my website...
My partner and I run a network of two websites in which we have 13,000+ members registered. We have our business plan set up with expected profits for each month as well as year.
Our site is mainly a freebie website, in which members join, complete a free offer(s). Then they receive their reward.
