Question about LLC

Can I run and operate multiple types of businesses under a single LLC? For example if my LLC was ABC Media and they were a marketing agency, could I also operate a cleaning company, an internet site that sells products and a business consulting company with different business names for each of these but use same EIN I received for ABC Media and file all legal and tax paperwork under ABC Media?

If so, do I just file for LLC under ABC Media and get a DBA through my local county clerk recorder?

You betcha that can be done. But, keep in mind the purpose of an LLC is primarily for asset liability protection. If any of the businesses being operated within the LLC are more prone to a lawsuit (whether by a customer, employee, debt holder, etc) all of the businesses could be lost.

I am currently operating several closely related companies under one C-corp. Once the companies grow to having several employees in each, I will most likely start separating them into their own corporations, owned by the parent company in which they exist currently.

As for the DBA, check with your state (same department at which you'll register your LLC). They may have specific forms to submit to operate under alternate names. Good luck with your ventures.

I have an LLC formed as a holding company to contain any business i start, if I feel this business has grown to the point that it needs seperate treatment in terms of handling finances and taxes I will form it as an independent entity.

I do all this mainly to make paying taxes easier.
As far as a DBA, I think how it works is you file a DBA for each business under the LLC. Thats what ive been told, im not sure how it works exactly.
