    Protecting an event name...

Basically I'm starting a weekly event at a nightclub and I have heard that in the past another night club has basically kicked promoters out and stole the event name/logo etc. and made huge profits! What ways can I go around this? Like protecting the name and legal covering me and my partner? Thanks in advance.

As a start, you might look into registering the name with your secretary of state. If you are running the weekly event under a given name, it becomes a brand of its own. Look at your state's secretary's page for information on trade name registration. The fee is usually nominal.

I agree. One other option is to actually start to build an email list of your customers. By maintaining a relationship with partygoers...you can have them follow you at whatever club you are promoting at.
