    not getting enough sales

We started our business, Stan's Chip Dip, in 8/08. We've gotten about $2000.00 in sales primarily from having a booth at food shows. We've only had 37 internet sales. Our website host shows we're getting 2,000 hits a day. We also advertise by mail with Valpak and Gold Clipper. Our website URL is listed in the website review section. What can we do to increase sales? I'd appreciate some constructive criticism. Thanks.

Go big or go home. See if you can propose a deal with a local supermarket or even a joint venture with an up and coming chip company, or better yet an established one. Take your product to restaurants, hotels, gas stations. Try and get monthly contracts if you can to guarantee cash flow.

It looks like you cut corners with your website as well as with your packaging. Improve in those areas and I might even turn into your customer!

Could you be specific as to what about the website and packaging turns you off?

    Okay here is my advice:
Get the book called "Entrepreneur America" by Rob Ryan and use it. It will get you to the point of actually getting direct feedback from your top would be clients and finding out what is necessary to make the business start-up successful. ...

First and Foremost, you need to do as mentioned above and get out to restaurants, stores, other companies (local first, corporate later...) and remember build a business resume first with significant events not cool notes about having a booth somewhere. That should at least point you in beneficial directions if it doesn't create sales. You will learn more yourself about the product and hear opinions from various people in the industry who may help in your approach and direction.

Also, the website. You need to make a good first impression, and make it easy, original, clean/neat and smooth looking. I can go on and on about suggestions for the site and other strategy so PM me if you like and we can talk.

Badly in need of an update. Spend $1500 and get a clean design. you will be happy that you did.

Agreed on the site design. Other than the design though, how exactly are people finding you on the web? Are they going to your site from offline advertising? SEO? PPC? Make sure that all of your advertising, including the valpak ads are congruent with your message on your site. I would recommend tweaking your ad copy and testing it to see what works better. It is great that you are getting these hits, but something is turning the viewers off when they get there. Clean up the actual design of the site, and experiment with the ad copy on the site.

Don't get discouraged in lack of sales, however. You started up pretty recently. This is your time to experiment with a lot of different marketing tactics to see what works best with your business.

Why don't you try hiring an expert group, which can help you improving SEO, have good banners, or something similar. It could be a good option! greetings friend.
