New Way of Profiting from Info Products

I've been reading (and completed) Tim Ferris' The Four Hour Workweek, and in the book, the author gives a great plan for developing your own informational product, to eventually sale (via a website, primarily).

Besides the traditional sales model, I am wondering if a business model of distributing my own (tangible) informational product to a highly targeted niche market, and capitalizing on it from advertising would work?

Is this feasible? In essence, I would not "sell" this product but monetize it by incorporating advertising in the product.

    Your assistance is appreciated.

I think you could if you market right and have a good product in which is constantly updated. Example a digital magazine / newsletter and charge a certain price per issue or year.

I am actually starting to do this myself. I simply went into a niche, joined forums, asked if people for the niche would be interested and there was a big demand! I have inspired others to do the same thing.
