So here's a weird question.
I live in the US, and want to comission a Frenchman living in France to do some artwork for me.
Would an NDA be useless considering the countries don't share the same legal structure????

I'm not 100% sure, but am fairly sure that a good NDA would hold at least some ground in France as it doesn't necessarily deal with any laws that are specific to the US. It's simply a contract, and I'm fairly certain that France has some kind of contract law. Your best bet is to pay a lawyer who has experience in international law and/or startups. I don't know where you're located, but The Startup Lawyer: Startup Law, Venture Capital, Securities, M&A might be a good guy to contact. I know Ryan second handedly, and have been reading his blog for a while now.
