Use Free Traffic Exchanges, BUT DO NOT SURF FOR TRAFFIC!! Pay for it. Its well worth it and you avoid virus and trogans.

Message boards are also a good way to direct traffic to your site. With Word of Mouth Marketing (WOMM) being so popular and influential, the key seems to be in getting people to talk about your site (or product, service). Including links on your site where users can send a link to a friend isn't a bad idea either.

I have found that marketing through forums is kind of hit or miss. One of the things I always try to focus on is getting quality traffic that has more interest in the site and has a greater chance of coming back. The key just isn't getting traffic, you need to get targeted traffic to really be successful.
