Why not take out a loan? This is what most (pretty close to all) franchisees do.

Their should be some kind of website for people under 21 who need helping doing things that adults do, like loans for young people. Because I've found that their are times when I've wanted to do things and theirs are a lot of hurdles because of age. That's why I love internet though because noone knows your age unless you tell them and things are very different.

I don't mean to discourage you or anything, but you're probably not going to have much luck getting a loan to buy a McDonalds at 16. I've heard they cost over one million. I suggest getting a job for now and educating yourself.

Oh, no it will take more than loans to get a McDonald's franchise. Most franchisers require industry managerial experience, a certain amount of assets, historical proof of management capabilities, insurance coverage, certain credit and economical status or achievements, education, age, etc.

At age 16, you can do alot as to procure success in your future. But, at age 16, you also can't do everything because you do not have the property, experience ,and knowledge equivalent of someone double your age has. I'm not discouraging you, or well I don't mean to.

I just mean, that it is great to dream, want, and plan right now. Don't try and growup so fast. Work hard for your education, continue sticking to your dreams/goals, get the experience needed, search for resources, and one day you will get that McDonalds franchise you've always wanted .

You have alot to learn my friend, as we all do. Just don't rush it. If u are really burning to bring a McDonald's to your region. Use the Internet to search and network for local experienced adults who could possibly successfully work with McDonald's to get a franchise out there. Maybe he/her can then give u a position or have u assit him/her in the development and manageemnt of the Mcdonald's franchise. If u can't wait, that's the best solution I believe.

Lastly, it takes more than "loans" and grants to get a business started. Plus, there is alot of research that goes into it. McDonald's isn't the perfect fit-all fast food solution globally, and they do ALOT of intensive advanced marketing research, economical study, risk&probability analysis, etc. to even adjust the McDonald's brand for global markets. So McDonalds corporate headquarters will have to spend time with you to see what strategies to implement to get McDonald's in Ghana. It sounds like you are onto something, I'm sure they are keeping your thoughts in consideration my friend. Just don't give up, keep your hopes strong always

There is a good reason Mcdonalds, burger king and kfc arent there. The government! You would be better off starting your own fast food style burger joint, then to try and beat a dead issue with one of the giants.

You have to understand them first, they (MD's-BK's-KFC's) control, not you not the government, and if for say you wish to control them they will not even go there.

I would agree with made4success on that one. I had been heavily looking into investing into a Subway franchise, but where I live I think the name would mean virtually nothing.

I am now looking to create a stlylish, well branded alternative. This is not to take on the giant of sandwiches, as it 110% likely it would fail, but to offer a small unique business, to a not yest saturated market where I live in the UK. Turnovers are good in those business' and will allow me to hopefully have a profit making shop.

So I would look at creating your own brand, something that can better MacDonalds food quailty etc etc. You keep control, expereince all things such as design, menu choice, food suppliers... be a good expereince!

Anyone that can help me too, please PM!

Not to discourage but you couldnt even sign the contract to start a Mcdonalds at 16.

    Also,

    From the Mcdonalds website:

"Owning a McDonald's restaurant is a tremendous opportunity. We are seeking individuals with significant business experience who have successfully owned or managed multiple business units or have lead multiple departments and who have significant financial resources"

"Since the total cost varies from restaurant to restaurant, the minimum amount for a down payment will vary. Generally, we require a minimum of $200,000 of non-borrowed personal resources"

    Initial Costs

$45,000 Initial Fee paid to McDonald's
    Equipment and Pre-Opening Costs

Typically these costs range from $610,750 to $1,210,000.

you "could" sign a contract at 16, BUT it could be canceled by you at any time, since you are underage, so noone would even be thinking of doing business with you.

I also have the same idea as jeffs. I live in the united states and have actually met and am close with a man who used to be on the board of directors for MCD. I also will soon be meeting the x-CEO. anyones opinion? is this a "step up"?
