    Making a Company Under 18

    Hi there,

I'm just wondering, I've been trying to look for information about either
    incorporating or LLC'ing before the age of 18. I'm 17, 18 on December 23,
    2006.

I'd like to make a business of my website work before then so I can not
only start marketing myself better for my senior year of high school, but
also allow colleges to know my personal business ventures are no joke.

Do I have any solutions? I think you need to be 18 for any normal incorporating?

An age limit is only imposed on company directors.

You can incorporate all you want - but you can't be a company director until you're 18. Exceptions may apply for certain situations.

Any how, you're incorporating for purposes other than raising capital - you don't need to be a director - so just put down your mum/dad or what ever as the company director and you're done.

Correct, thats what I done. Just put it all in your mum/dads name until you turn 18 and change it when you do... your mum and dad dont have to do anything besides sign a few things but you can still run the company..

Thanks guys. I'm from New Jersey, USA. Another question, I'd need to incorporate a 'corporation' to do this, correct? But I've heard creating an LLC is a lot better, primarily because of taxes?

Yeah, my dad said he's fine doing whatever signing is needed until I turn 18. Sweet
