I was hoping someone could help me out here. I plan to set up an ecommerce based business selling house ware piggy backing on already famous e-commerce websites like Amazon and the like. However, as I am based in Malaysia importing into the U.S in bulk seems like the only feasible option rather than sending them by individual parcels to the online orders (sending individual parcels will be a bit of an overkill on the logistic expenses. Runs up to be about 800% higher than the cost of the original item. No way I could possibly compete with local businesses). Seeing as how importing goods into the U.S requires me to have an EIN number that means I'll have to set up a U.S based business as well. This seems like a lot of hassle to go through just to get a number for me to pay import tax doesn't it? I was hoping that someone would possibly know a logistic provider willing to act as the owner of record or an agent that I could use rather than having to create a whole new company and having to pay a substantial amount for maintaining the company in good standing.

Or if anyone sees a way around this dilemma of mine, please let me know!
