LLC in New York or Wisconsin

Hello Everyone -

I have a question for all you legal experts out there. I am looking to form a LLC for a new business I am getting into. My business partner is from New York and I am from Wisconsin. We were curious if we should register it in Wisconsin or NY? Are there are pro/cons to one state versus the next?

Certainly there are pros and cons of each state. I suggest you get a business lawyer in both states to explain the pros and cons of each state.

In my experience incorporating businesses, dealing with the New York Secretary of State can be a bit of a hassle, ESPECIALLY if you are starting a professional corporation. But the start-up process shouldn't be your only consideration.
