Is it illegal for me to start up a business if I'm only 12?

*Note: it's not really a business, more an online zine with advertisement spaces that people can buy..

well...the full answer is complicated, but for your purposes, the answer is "no, it's not illegal"

OK, also, another question: where could I get my news from? The zine is based on tech and other things like the Microsoft + Yahoo debate etcetera. I'm not allowed out after school because I have ADHD and normally end up in fights, so this is what I'm going to do.

    Thanks
    Jake.

no worries jake sure..whilst there's no reason to think that you can "get trustworthy newswriters who will do it for free", your alternative is to do a user generated content venture like digg.com, or newsvine.com

Hmm, will you give me a step-by-step tutorial on how to change Wordpress into a site where users post news reports themselves? (That isn't what newsvine looks like..)

sure, dunno about a tutorial (other ye members can pitch in), but generally, one of your options is to do a wordpress multiuser installation
go to the download page and follow the instructions

The default wordpress install has an option built in where you can allow anyone to create a login to the site. Just set the default login to "contributor"

Anyone who posts will be able to submit content. As a contributor, you would still be in charge of most/all the back end parts of the wordpress. The users would just be able to submit stories for your approval, and you could publish them/edit them as you see fit.

So wait, contributor lets people post, but not in the backend to edit site options and what not?

You gotta remember...your website has to offer something no other one has for it to be successful in the long run.
