I Want to Be a Fashion Entrepreneur... I need Help

Hi, my name is Kiera. my dream is to become a fashion designer and one day have a top selling clothing line. But my only problem is, I dont know how to get there, I dont know where to start. I just wanted advice for starting my line. I have my ideas all planned out and I even made a huge fashion collage displaying how I would like the theme of my line to be. My taste in fashion is simply bright, funky, vibrant, and very edgy. Now all I need is the right tools to start my line.

here is one of my main concerns
    • With the economic crisis the U.S is experiencing, is it right for me to start a Clothing Line?

Can you all give me a little bit of advice!
    please and thank you
    Kiera

You need to find a good overseas factory to work with. Finding the right partner to help you manufacture your products will go a long way to helping answer the rest of your questions

I believe it is right time for you to start a clothing line business. You have to come up with some unique but useful punk rock apparel designs and start promoting them.

start creating a website and promote your products
you may also asked some of your family and friends as their first batch customers then let them endorse it to their other friends in their community
(old style word of mouth promotion).

Im very willing to put in all time, money, and sweat to be sucessful in the fashion industry. This is what I've been longing for since grade 6. and Im 16 as of right now, and i think that if i keep putting it off and putting it off im never going to get it done and its only going to be an idea.

Shoot me an email, we work with start up apparel companies all the time. But just to warn you jeans and things like that is super pricey so if you don't have a big budget I would start with t shirts. I run a screen printing shop so I can def help you out, my email is below.

Have you looked into making an etsy account? this way you can create a small following so when you launch your final products, you have buyers and supporters.

Your best way forward is to get some of your designs made. Then call retail outlets in your area that may be interested in stocking your line. Have a good manufacturer in place. If you dont have money now, ask for payment upfront from the retailers, credit from the suppliers or get a loan or investment. Be prepared for rejection, but never give up. If nowhere will stock your line, ask why. Use their feedback to improve your line, then go back to them. Dont take no for an answer unless you really have to.
