I need Legal advices to sell online

    Hi,
I want to sell online but I do not have a seller permit
I do not know how to obtain one offline. I checked my city hall(clerk office)
but they say they don't know what it is or how to get one.

Which form or where do I go to get my tax id, I do not want to use my
social security as tax id. How do I go about doing that.

I went online, there's this site, that requires me to register a dba and doing
a bunch of other stuff that amounts up to around 1k, which I don't want to spend.
    Is there another way?

    Thanks in advance.

All you really need to get started is a state-issued reseller permit to get started as a sole proprietorship. It shouldn't cost $1000, even if you register a fictitious name. The fee to do this in PA is about $100, and they have the forms on their website. Your state's website should be www.state.[2-letter state abbreviation].us

    Angry Thank

    Hi,

I have posted this in another section, I received pretty much the same thing "don't spam", basically no one actually pointed me to the right direction with the exception of go to www.irs.gov.<----that was the closes, but not even it. I had to call MA department of revenue, which is close, but they are totally too different service from the irs.gov. Applying took less than 1/2 an hour online.

I got my approval within 5 business days. I think it was free, there's no need for any bank account number, as long as you do business with your own name instead of a ficticious, its easy and fast.

I see that although this forum have a thousand user, most of us are "clueless", even the experts are no where to be found.

I posted this in the other post you made:

You don't need a dba or an SS-4 to get a seller's permit. Just call your state Department of Revenue or go to their website and register. It costs $20 in my state.
You choose to ignore my advice, don't blame us.

    Wait

Dre, I think yours was the advice that lead to me going to MA irs not www.irs.gov.

However, when I say "most of us are clueless", you can exclude yourself from the list. Thanks again.

If you would reread the post, most did not give a clear answer to the question. There were no links that was given...just "I think", and giving definition.....

    unfortunately no

There are about 4 clerks in my town. They seem to be enjoying their days, sitting there, they asked one another about it, nodded their head and open their arms wide and say "i don't know".

Its a small town, they do everything with paper almost, having people sitting and getting paid on the spot. Its bad beauraucracy, but can't do a thing a bout it.

I signed up for the mailing list to get my absentee ballot, and they don't even send that. Although they did register me.

Like most, they themselves are "clueless".

The reason that you are getting replies like 'don't spam' is fairly simple, you spammed. It never goes down well here..but hey what do I know I'm clueless.
