i bought a domain from a company...do i own it and its trademarks?

I have never really thought about this, but recently i was told to talk to a lawyer just to make sure.

When i was 14 i spent $70 for godaddy to find an owner of a past company and ask him for the domain.

    I now own it.

Do i own the trademarks of his name?

Like i want to go commercial with my business. Am i allowed to call it the company name?

And am i allowed to make shirts that say the name on it?

How does the trademark system work?

If anyone can just give me a bit of info, that would be great!

well what is the domain? Does a current trademark stand on it? You have to apply for a trademark if there is not a live one already. Have you been renewing the domain each year because if not it has probably expired.
Yes, I know my Screen name has a typo.

You only own the domain... If you want to trademark it you have to file the paperwork and pay the fees. If the previous company had a trademark you would need to file a transfer to take ownership. A trademark is a legal definition and therefore requires documentation and federal filings.

I would contact legalzoom.com if you need someone to do this for you
