How to read Advertising rate cards..

I am considering advertising my business in a magazine. Only problem is that I am having some trouble reading their advertising rate cards. Anybody have any idea how to read them? Here's an example:

    What does the 1x, 3x, 6x, 12x mean?

    1x, 3x, 6x, 12x means the amount monthly.

So the 1x price is the price that you pay for one month of advertising.

The 3x times price is the monthly price (should be lower than the 1 month price) if you prepay three months in advance.

Same for the 6x and the 12 x. Each represents the price you pay monthly if you prepay in advance.

    ad rate cards

    spartanic,

1x, 3x, 6x, etc. represents the commitment you make. You don't have to pay in advance. An advertiser who commits to only one ad pays more than an advertiser who commits to running six ads.

Depending on your negotiating skills, you may want to ask the magazine to sell you 3x at the 12x rate. Make sense? That allows you to test the publication without making a long commitment.

Be careful not to judge too quickly - one ad isn't usually enough to test effectiveness.

Good luck, and write with any questions.
