how to design or create a magazine

Hey, I was curious if anyone know of any programs that you can use to create a magazine, then i know you need printers, etc. But i just want to look into this. Thanks

When i did my newspaper project in high school i used MS Publisher. I think it has a better version now.

InDesign is what a lot of magazine publishers use. I'd recommend taking a Magazine Publishing course at a local community college before getting involved. It's much more complicated than it seems. I speak from experience. I was a Public Relations major in college and had to take a variety of magazine writing, publishing courses. Good Luck!

Marc, the industry standard over here in the UK is Quark Xpress, I would assume that this would be the same in the US. Most design/print companies also use Apple's, this is something else to bear in mind when selecting fonts etc.

To design various aspects of the publication, you can use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Once you have designed and done your layout in quark xpress, you will need to contact a repro/print company, they will check your document, make any neccessary adjustments and either produce plates (Old Technology) or create a PDF and go to print. Depending on the size of the publication depends on how it will be printed.
