How do I know if a product already exists?

I have an idea for a product and I know the underlying technology is already available. My question is: how do I know if my product is already being produced? I can't search patents because the technology is already being used all over the place. I'm wondering if there's a way to do a thorough product search (not patent search) other than using keywords in froogle.

I'd appreciate any help.
