How did you become a distributor/ wholesaler ?

Hello, i am 21 located in Australia and looking to get into the distribution, wholesale and or import/export, of various products, namely things i can use myself like organic foods which continue to grow in popularity, health products, abnd really anything to be self employed and make some money.
My interest in this has developed recently when i started purchasing all kinds of products in bulk at cheaper prices, and i find it quite enjoyable searching the best deal out. And frankly half the time i had to imply that im from a business, because as usual wholesalers tell you to go away we dont deal with the lowly public.

Problem is that unless it's a crap business any well established wholesale business would only deal with well established businesses. To add, a lot of the time you need to buy an account off of them, which can run you in the thosands. My boss has a Nike account, and the most crap account they offer starts out at around $100,000USD.

Yeh, large well known manufactures cost alot to become a retailer, but smaller generic manufactures (in china) dont make you have an account 95% of the time. What they do have though is minimum order quantites.

Yeah, but it's rare that you find anything that is worth selling. Most of the time it's crap thats extremely cheap, fake, or hasn't worked for 1000's of sellers before you.

yeah ive checked those sites before. Some okay stuff, but huge min order quantity. The real reason for this thread was not to find leads. but rather to ask how ppl got involved and started out in the biz. And im not tlaking about ebay trading, im talking about a real world situation.
If anyone has done this before please post, if not, may as well lock this thread

Hi, why not take a step by step approach...

If you don't mind, start off with eBay retail, then your own webstore where you do retail and wholesale.

I find ebay a rather good place to gain trade experience...not talking about earning big money or become very rich...
