    Home Shopping Group?

I have a great product that I have been trying to sell on a few websites but to no avail. Now, i received a call from the Home Shopping Group offerring to produce an infommerical, sell on the web, etc. but I have to pay a fee upfront for this service. Anyone out there heard of these folks or services like it?

    Hey Stubird,

I would be a little cautious with a company like that that wants money upfront. Why don't you ask for references and call the companies to see what results they've gotten? That's how you do your due diligence. Get them to give you a list of success stories/rates and contact persons to cross check.

Don't write that check just yet until you've done your homework. I personally have not heard of this company.

I would look elsewhere. They make their money by convincing someone like you to pay them for their advertisement. They get paid whether it's a good idea, bad idea, success, or flop. You're better off using that money for advertising or other marketing instead.

My product is actually a patented pair of scissors with a bubble level embedded in the blade to assist in keeping the scissor slevel while in use. And, you can use the level around the house for picture hanging, sheleves, etc.

Rather than pay to throw it up on a late-night infomercial, advertise directly to your target market. The internet is the greatest thing for advertisers, as it allows them to pinpoint their target market and spend all money and effort advertising directly to only this market, not wasting resources on those outside this market. Rack your brain for what your product will be used most. Scrapbooking? Art projects? Now find websites most directly targeted at such users, and hit them up.

I thought maybe you can have JSaunders to add your scissors in his scrapbooking website. Have you tried sending your item to art supply retailers such as Pearl Art Supplies, Aaron Bros., Michaels? Perhaps online art supply stores like Mr. Art?

Just find out how to get in touch with their procurement or buyers department so you know you are sending a product sample to the right person in charge.

    Hope this helps.

If they are one of the firms out of Florida, don't do it. Rip off, I think.

    Watch Home Shopping Group Informercials

    Interesting,

Advertising is critical if you ever hope to make it big time with any product, and one of the best methods to determine whether your product will sell to the masses is to put it up on a informercial for a test run.

Home Shopping Group is one of the best and most proven infomercial producers, and obviously, it costs money to advertise your product, so for those who want to throw around the idea it is a rip off to spend money on advertising, I would say this, you have a lot to learn in business.

Sorry, but if you think someone is going to produce a high quality commercial and then air it is going to do it for free, think again, it won't happen. If your product is already proven and selling, then you can negotiate for a better deal, based on sales and percentages, but free, forget about it.

I'll report back with results on a product we are putting on TV informercials, which has been well proven as an effective marketing strategy by hundreds of companies and products you see all over TV. Money makes money, so unless you are content to rely on the internet alone, you are going to miss the boat, TV still remains as one of the most cost effective advertising mediums of all time, so it is hardly a rip off.

    Good luck to all,

Warranties for Less - I did not say it was a rip off to spend money on advertising, I worked for an ad agency for year so I more than most believe in the value of advertising. I also have had experience with many media and adveritsing companies and happen to know several including the one mentioned that in my opinion are not legitimate.

Of course no one expects that a company will produce a TV spot for free and pay for the media as well. I was only giving my input on the particular vendor.

seems every cornor of the global has enthusiatic entreprenuer and are eagerly looking for chance to hit a fortune, i think whoever want to be wealthy should pay his work, money, time, etc. only after a period of harding work, you may get the necessities to reach your goal. don't you think so? from my past experience and the success story around my friend, all have proved it.

    BEWARE STUBIRD

Just spoke to these people myself. They get you on the phone by saying that they want to purchase your product and then (if you ask the right questions) they tell you that there is a fee of $12,900.

Advertising on TV is great but don't do it with someone who is not honest enough to come and say "we want you to hire us to produce an infomercial" but instead says that they want to "buy large quantities of your product".

Plus the woman Vanessa was extremely rude to me and my staff (I can't imagine why anyone would use their service after speaking with HER).
