So these are more of rave parties or something rather than regular nightclub events (where alcohol is served)? I misunderstood originally.

Profitibaility dpends on a large number of factors. The largest ways to make this successful is twofold:
    1) Word of Mouth / Networking. You must know a lot of people, and your friends must know a lot of people. Even when you think you know a lot of people, you need to know more. Your ability to spread the events by word of mouth is critical.
    2) The success of the first event. If the first party you throw sucks, all your future parties will suck. The people that show up to your first one will keep coming back and tell their friends about future ones if it is good. If it sucks (and by sucks, one of the qualifications is that few people show up), no one will ever come back to your parties.

The actual expense of throwing this type of party really isn't that large. You could very easily get cheap DJ's or bands, radio promotions (if you partner with radio stations), etc... For past parties I have had, I was almost always ahead money before the event was held due to partnerships with a local radio station or anhauser busch that supported the expenses for the party.

I have thrown many successful parties and events and have tons of ideas of both things we tried and did not try that may be successful. If you would like to keep discussing or have other questions, let me know.
