    Fictitious Business Name

Let's say John Doe wants to start a business selling clothing made by local high school clubs. If he were to name it 'Doe Enterprises', would that require a Fictitious Business Name filing?

Yes. If you are making a decent amount of income off it then do it but until then dont bother wasting your money.
If you're slowing me down then get out of my way, If not then I'm running you over

Also consider conducting a trademark search for the business name and product names. This will help you avoid problems in the future.

No trademark search required if you're using your own name.

Check with your state (just call them and ask), but most places I'm aware of require you to use your exact name, and adding "Enterprises" would require filing the DBA. Luckily, filing a DBA costs virtually nothing. My first one I think they charged $20 (but over 10 years ago).
