"The reality remains that for us entrepreneurs, wealth and money are NEVER the goal, and despite being on our minds, the ultimate goal is to succeed in growing something great out of nothing, and understand that the money element will come by itself in due time which is the main difference between real entrepreneurs and business men. We are in this for the game, and to prove to our self that we can create, build and execute while others dream. We act while others fear."

Here is awesome entrepreneurial quote for you people

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”* –

Just what I figured I'd find. Michael Jordan is hardly an entrepreneur. He's a celebrity and got offered to promote different products. He took no risks and didn't pursue anything, they came to him.

Michael Jordan took a lot of risks in become famous in basket ball, once he had the fame it was easier to grow from there. But do you really think a magical fairy just came into his life and gave him all his skills? He just like anyone has had to work to get to where he is. Now that he has more financial backing and a reputation its easier, but it wasn't always.

Right, he had to work to get to where he is now. But in that case my mom is an entrepreneur. She went to college (worked) and now works FOR quikrete. Heck, that makes everybody with a job an entrepreneur! They had to work to get where they are, right? Is every celebrity an entrepreneur then?.. Do you really think Michael Jordan came up with the shoe and clothing designs? No. He is simply paid to sponsor them. The real entrepreneur is the person who paid Michael Jordan to sponsor their stuff. They had the brains to say "Hey, if he sponsors this.. people will buy it!".

According to Wikki "An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and is accountable for the inherent risks and the outcome." And Michael Jordan did just that, with risk and perseverance he pursued a career in a field that is very difficult to overcome and become famous in. Not all Entrepreneurs have "new" ideas. Michael Jorgan for example has those inherited risks. He is selling himself, his personal brand. Just like a company chooses who to sponsor, he has to choose who to accept sponsorship from.

Woah woah woah, are you referring entrepreneurial to his sports success or 'his' products? You think it was his idea? Lets look at a scenario. Greg Smith runs a girl's clothing line. He wants to get big but know that wont happen without some promotion. He now gets Hannah Montana to sponsor his clothing and it is now named after her as if it is her design. Would you honestly give Hannah the credits of being the entrepreneur in this situation or the guy which paid millions for her to sign a contract and sponsor the line. If the clothing line fails who will be held accountable: Greg or Hannah?

Yes, being a sports star is risky but is that the only thing that defines an entrepreneur? Everyone takes risks in life from stunt devils to prostitutes. Your point?

You seem to have really gone off topic, the question isn't what is an entrepreneur it's what are entrepreneurial qualities. And Michele Jordan in his ability to market and sell himself is an example of some of those qualities.
