hey everyone, I am new to the forum, but I am needing some legal advice. My business is only a couple of months old and I am trying to keep my costs at a minimum. My company sells lighting products for hotels, businesses, homes, etc. And hopefully soon online. My basic site is up if anyone wants to check it out. Luminous Trends | Lighting Decor.
This is what I need help with.
1. On my projects I sell the products, do not install (dont want that liability). Usually if I need to customize the product to specification the turnaround time is about 30 days. Which on initial order I take 35-45% Deposit, then remainder on delivery. Do I need a contract?
2. Warranty Disclaimer. On my invoices I usually state what warranty I am giving with my product for example 1 Year Warranty on Parts. Do I need a proper legal warranty disclaimer. As you know lighting is electrical, which I have made sure my products have UL Certification, but it also depends on the installer. The installer needs to be licensed. Since I have no part in the installation, i want to be sure that my company is protected from the start.
3. Ecommerce- Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Return Policy. Should I copy and paste into my site or is their a template to purchase online, or should I just go and see an attorney which is gonna cost me an arm and a leg....haha.
Appreciate the help if anyone has any.![]()
