    Ebook help

    Hi Guys,

I know this may have been asked before, so my apologies for rehashing this.
I need to get some information about how to publish an ebook and how to protect it.

I've been trying to find an Ebook help forum but couldn't find anything. If anyone knows of such a forum I'd certainly appreciate if you could let me know.

Alternatively, if there are any Ebook experts here I have a few questions about the process which I'm hoping you can answer.

    1) Do you need to go through an ebook publisher in order to produce your ebook or can you do it yourself?

    2) If you can do it yourself, do you need software to do this?

    3) How do you protect your ebook from people reselling it illegally?

    4) What is the best format for an ebook? PDF, HTML? (it seems like people could copy it regardless of the format).

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards,
    Joe

You can use OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) and save your work as a pdf file. It's free.
As long as your work is not plagiarized and custom, your work will be copyrighted under law (assuming you live in the US). I'm not really sure but you can always enforce it by stating that the buyer doesn't have reseller rights and that they will be "prosecuted to the fullest extent under Federal Copyright Law" or something like that. I would check out other ebooks and see what they do.
I'd prefer to read an ebook in pdf format but thats just me.

    1) Not necessarily

    2) Yes you need software, you cna get free convertors from Ms Word to pdf

    3) Check out what other ebook sellers are doing/ contact a lawyer

    4) pdf is the best format imo and its the most widely used(as far as im aware) for ebooks
