Do I need to register a LLC?

Hello,

I'm new here and had a question regarding affiliate programs. I will be releasing a few websites in the next month that I will be running on my own and most of the traffic will be coming from Affiliates. I will need to pay my Affiliates and I'm wondering if I will need to register an LLC to legally make payments to Affiliates?

Do the affiliates require you to make payments as a business and not as a sole prop? I don't believe there are any laws that would otherwise prevent you paying as a sole prop.

That said, are there any liability concerns where you would want to protect yourself personally from lawsuits, etc? Does that seem like an issue for the business you want to get in? Because in that case, you should file to become and LLC or S-Corp anyway.

There is no requirement to create an LLC just so you can pay your affiliates. You can do nothing, be treated as a sole proprietor, and the payments you make will be treated as a business expense.

Like mthomas above me says, the reasons for forming an LLC hinge upon liability protections and, also, whether you have business partners or not.
