    DBA switching to LLC?

    I'm planning on filing for a DBA for my internet business (selling info products). I'm in California so I'm not looking to file an LLC for $800 at the moment; however, later when/if I start to make money and want to get an LLC, will I be able to do so using the same business name as the DBA? Is it too much of a hassle?

    I understand the benefit of protecting your personal assets with an LLC and the tax benefits but I'm a broke college student with literally nothing to loose. Am I going about this the wrong way?

    you can use the same business name as the dba if it is not taken by another company. you can request a name search from here sos.ca.gov/business/be/name-availability.htm]Name Availability - Business Entities - California Secretary of State

    Is the liability limited on these for a single member? And are the taxes lower than sole ownership or higher?
