Creating small investment group

Do you any of you know of a site or organization I can contact that can give me information on starting an investment group? I would like to start out with just a few friends investing x number of dollars and investing in stocks, bonds etc..

Is there a site that can give me some beginning information and point me in the right direction?

One of our production managers told me a story once about how he asked one of his MBA professors if he could offer some advice as to how he and his classmates could start an investment club. The professor responded that he found that to be an arrogant question and asked him if he really thought he could do better than the professionals. His advise was to put his money into an S&P 500 fund instead and to study and learn from what the fund managers were doing. Good advice in my opinion.
