Build a Blog, a Website or Both?

I'm looking into aquiring a new web presence in the coming months and am having a dilemma. My dilemma is simple... I have 35+ communication and technology services to offer my client base and do a pretty good job aquiring clients offline, but the website that I currently have is one of those affiliate provided self-replicating sites. Its a very attractive and well built site but as its known, this does nothing for me in terms of SEO and adding to my product offerings.

Should I build a customizable site for SEO purposes, which will allow me to add even more services under one roof, maintain my affiliate site as it is and use a blog to do product reviews for both my own and other technologies or do both with my blog seamlessly incorporated into my custom website. Any suggestions. I'll admit that I'm a rookie when it comes to generating income online and any help would be appreciated.

Any tips on getting traffic to my affiliate site would be appreciated also.

Are you building it all in house? If yes, how many people are on your team? Do you have all roles needed staffed already?

Well this is pretty much a one man show. Once I decide which direction I'll be taking, I'll probably be outsourcing my design work but if I decide to blog it out I'll be putting that together myself.

As far as a budget is concerned, that depends on what will be required to program my site. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for would be: built in lead capture/mailing list technology, wordpress blog with custom site look and feel and full description of services for each of my services offered through my affiliate link with only outbound linking being to the order page for each individual service. (Exceptions will be made for select services that are better suited for direct linking)
