    Birthing an Idea for Marketability

I'm stuck on writing two ebooks. The problem lies with trying to come up with an idea on how to sell information that I have been knowledgeable in:

I'm writing an e-book about 25 myths about the Christian faith. It is written primarily for existing Christians. However, I am stuck on how to monetize writing this book - I can't think of an angle to approach it to would be marketable. If it's not a ebook that I can sell, possibly I can use it to promote my church by submitting various excertps as articles to other websites, ezines, blogs, etc. But I really would like to sell the book and capitalize on the investment of time I will be giving to it.

In addition, I am also writing a second ebook about the modern day failures of the African American race - it's an ebook at details the social, financial, economical failures of the black race and solutions about how to avoid being another "black statistic". By the way, I am black. I am African American. What would be a good angle to approach the market with this information that would be marketable?

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks!

Have you thought about setting up your own little ecommerce store front for the ebook and selling it yourself?

    Yes, absolutely.

But my main problem is "Will anyone buy it?". If they won't I don't want to invest the time to writing it.

The two books are entitled, "25 Myths, Lies, and Misconceptions in Christianity" and "Why I HATE Black People". I just don't see (well, initially) how they will sell.

Most ebooks I see are written that others may profit from it, whether it is financially (like the information marketing books) or socially (like the Myspace Pickup Guide - an ebook written for young guys to "pick up" girls from Myspace.com).

How could I tailor the information in these books to make them sell? Any pointers?

Why I hate black people is going to stick out to 2 kinds of people.. Those that share your views already, and those that truly hate black people. I think some things you can do to drive it into sales are have a powerful synopsis of the book stating the true view of the book, a credible review or testimony that can be easily seen, and/or you could offer like the first 10 or how many ever copies free. Now the last one would work really well in conjunction with the second one. It's just my two cents.

    CDAllen-

There's definitely a shock value to your title. It will make people look twice to make sure they read it right.

Content is what's going to make a bigger play here. If you write base on your opinions only, people will more than likely not buy. The writers of Freakonomics and Tipping Point wrote about well documented and well researched issues from race, child rearing, and drugs etc.

Just a few tips to lead you to a successful writing experience and e-book sales.

    Goodluck!
