Are home based online businesses a reliable thing on which I can depend for earning my livelihood?

Hello! Friends I have just retired three months back and do not receive any pension because I was working in a private firm. Now days I am facing certain financial crisis which are really harassing me mentally. Is there any online business which I can do by sitting at home? Please help me.

Ronald, there are a lot of businesses you can run from your home, depending on your expectations. For example, if you just want to sit at home on your butt without putting any time and effort into building an income, I can't help you.

On the other hand, if you're willing to work hard at building an income, I have a suggestion for you...affiliate programs. An affiliate program is a program in which you enter into a business relationship with a merchant in exchange for a percentage of the profits.

In essence, you would promote the merchants products and/or services for a commission. What's great about affiliate programs is you can get started without a huge cash outlay. Although, you will need some money for advertising. Heck, in many instances you don't even need a website, because the merchant will provide one for you.

Also, you don't have to worry about shipping products, billing problems or collections, because that's all handled for you by the merchant.

There are literally tens of thousands of affiliate merchants on the internet. You can find them on affiliate management websites like Clickbank.com or Commission Junction, which are by far my two favorite affiliate management websites.

I personally get checks every month from a variety of affiliate programs. This is in addition to the money I receive from my own marketing services. And in my opinion, there isn't a better way to make a living online!

Yes there are many things which you can do by just sitting at home to earn your livelihood. There are Home Based Business System which can help you earn a good income and make you financially strong. You just have to be aware of the right ones for you and be willing to devote time so that you can get the knowledge better that will help you to be successful in the business.

You can make a very good living as an internet marketer and with affiliate marketing. The only problem is that for most it takes a good 12-24 months before you start realizing significant profits. If you are facing an immediate financial crisis, I don't think looking for a home based or internet business is going to be the solution. just my two cents...

What are you interested in, apart from having some kind of work at home situation? At this stage you should be able to follow your passion rather than trade hours for dollars at home. I agree with Dale. There are tons of ways to make money online from home including affiliate marketing, Netwwork Marketing, drop shipping. By the way, have you read Loral Langemeier's book, The Millionaire Maker's Guide to Creating a Cash Machine for Life? Good book with a lot of ideas.

It is better to search Home based business online forums which gives you ideas and suggestions to make money online and can start a business from your comfortable place with out any risk that helps you a lot.

Interestingly I was also looking to get info on the issue Ronald has been talking about. Only difference being I am not a retired person and am eager to work hard but crippled by circumstances I cant venture out and work like others so looking for online business opportunities remains the only option for me. In my searches I have come across tons of sites providing such opportunities but its so hard to distinguish between the online work as an employee and an online business. Next most of these sites ask for upfront money as security deposit and I cant decide if this is the right thing to do. Overall this has confused me totally. I am looking for something like content writing jobs online, can you people help me find them?
