Anyone up for prosecuting a NJ scammer and his former employer?

I have a customer that scammed my online store out of about $2k. Normally, i would try to get them to pay, and maybe file charges, but thats become a lost cause.

However, the customer ordered items at his employers business, the cc#s used belonged to customers of that business.. And this is not the first breach they have experienced. So i see a high level of liability just on behalf of the employer themselves.

I have spoken to the owner of that company, who was an absolute prick to me. He told me to contact his lawyer, but wouldnt give me that info. He has business insurance i trust, i dont know why he would make such a big deal about filing this under this BO insurance policy.

Maybe someone at a NJ firm would be interested in picking this up. Yeah i would like my $2k, but you can pretty much have the rest.

Sue the scammer as a John Doe and then during discovery you can subpoena all the interesting records of the company. If it turns out the company is negligent, you can amend your complaint to include them too.

    e-roc,

Along with Entertainment Law our office also specializes in internet law. Please email me more details at the information provided below. Unfortunately you are not going to find an attorney who is going to do this free of charge. Our office charges a $50.00 initial consult fee (1/2 hour).

Then i better not email you, or you would hit the clock. ;-)

Outside of being a pest in the ear of the company and its owner, this is a dead end for me. But i have a full case ready to be handed over. I imagine once a NJ attorney contacted them, they would get scared and comply. But otherwise its pointless. State of NJ doesnt even seem to care that this company has had multiple security breaches by its own employees.

My post was more to see if anyone interpreted a potential for profit, and wanted to see what they could do with it.
