a site featuring clubs

Hi i am working on this concept of a site focused on the clubs, events and parties happening in my city. the site would host the clubs of the city with their information, clubbing events, parties, upcoming events. they will be charged for this service. events like college campus festivals, rock concerts, college festivals will also be covered. revenue would be from the registered clubs and third party advertising.

is this a good idea or does it need any modification. i welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions

I still dont have the distribution and promotional startegy as of now. but i have tried to put down on paper how the site is going to work, its users. i still have to work on the business plan, prepare a questionnaire and get feedback and suggestions from students, working people, friends, people seen at clubs.i have registered the domain name for the site. if you have any promotional stretegies that i can incorporate then you are most welcome

Hi Focalpoint,

I think you got something cooking here. There is a site called festivals.com with the same idea but not focus on college night life. The question being is, how to get people to register their events.

One thing I can think of would be bulk mail outs to school clubs, frats and sororities, college hang outs. You can probably put some free adverts on craigslist and backpage and other places with the same format.
Other than that this idea will live and die with how it's promoted and marketed.
